not Black of mourning. Allowing a person to move on should be something
good.
Funeral services are really for the living. People who have to go
through that separation from their loved one often have to deal with
the processes of denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and
acceptance. It's more out of practicality than dogma that the color is
a somber black. Imagine how whites would look after being stained with
tears and smeared make-up. I guess it's the same line of reasoning as
covering the mirrors during a Jewish shiva, so that the mourning don't
feel embarassed or self-conscious, allowing them to fully process
their grief. However, the prayers of the mass are very hopeful, to
remind us of Christ's resurrection and eternal life in the hereafter.
