Interesting hint at Snapes love...

Yeah, that's probably a clue.
I didn't see many clues while reading prior to book 7 that Snape was
obsessed with Lily. And it was so easy to think of other perfectly
valid (and more rational) motives for him. I could just as easily
believe that Rowing read the "Snape loves Lily" thread here, and took
the easy way out since obsessive, irrational love doesn't need to be
explained. I still prefer to think that Snape understood that
Voldemort was bad news and had to be defeated, and the only way to
defeat Voldemort was to support Harry. Snape did hear the prophecy
and would be most likely to take it seriuosly, The whole idea of
Snape being motivated by love for a woman who died 15 years ago and
who didn't love him just seems kind of sick. Not something I'd want
young readers to think of as a "good thing".
I'd have accepted it better if instead of obsessive love Rowling had chosen gratitude and we'd had Snape saying "Potter, I saved your ass many times because you're mother was the only person that didn't bully me for fun." or something like that. Then he had showed some respect and loyalty to her memory rather than a seek obsession. Considering that Snape's time at Hogwarts was shown before as not very pleasant, then having this only person that was nice towards him surely could have caused such an impression.
