The most telling is that if BRAINS were the answer - then we would
logically elect the smartest people to our governments. It appears
that that might not always be the case (lol). Yet - if you ask - the
majority of voters will tell you that they "used their brains" in
choosing a candidate.
And what are they SUPPOSED to use, their feet?
I believe the point was that even when people do use their brains, the
outcome is not always good. That is why they developed erasable ink
and pencils with erasers right on top. One cannot just say that people
should THINK before they do something. Often - the best result comes
from something you do not think through. Similarly - those things that
you agonize over are not always successful.
Remember - If you have been to Texas - visual information would tell
you that the earth is FLAT.
Huh? I guess you haven't been to central Texas, or the 'Big Bend'
area.
Neither are by any stretch flat.
From the top of the Astrodome you once could see for hundreds of miles

And which shape does the horizon have? Ever thought why what you see
is called sur"round"ing? I stood on top of the bay of Kotor in Croatia
a few years ago and it was one of the most impressive views I ever had
in my life. I could see way over the Adratic sea to Italy!!!
300kilometres! I´m sure from Italy noone could see the cliffs in
their total hight - if it was visible at all. And to your comparison
with the astrodome. Turn the point of view around and try to see the
tower from the farest point you can see from its top. You will
definately not see its basis. Guess why....

It would be hard to describe to someone who has never been there - as I
had been - my first trip to Texas. Just driving down the road you can
see for MILES and MILES - without a high vantage point. From the top of
the Astrodome you could see Oklahoma - hundreds of miles away.

As far as the horizon - on could think that the earth is flat and shaped
like a Pizza to explain the "round" effect.

Believe me, you can't see Oklahoma from the top of the Astrodome.
First, it is over 300 miles away, and the curvature of the earth would
get in your way. Second, the air pollution would limit your view to
less than 50 miles, and third, Houston is located at an altitude of only
about 26 feet, and the Astrodome isn't nearly as tall as the 694 feet
altitude of my house, which would be directly in your view, should you
look for the closest part of Oklahoma.
And, if you think the area around Houston is flat, you should check out
the area north of the Davis Mountains. Rather high, but quite flat (an
no air pollution).

Note that rather than a visit or two, I have lived in Texas almost 65
years, and have traveled to all parts of it. El Paso to Orange, and
Brownsville to Texline.

Ron is wrong about an awful lot of stuff, but I lived in Texas for
several years and will attest that you cannot see Oklahoma from the
top of the Astrodome!! LOL
