I thought the snitch was worth too much.
You know? I never understand Tennis, but they don't have a very strange
way to score as well?
The team that gets the snitch
almost always wins. The final in the QWC was a very big exception, so
what is the use of scoring. Why doesn´t everyone look for the snitch?
Because that would be a very VERY boring game, lot of people looking for
an object that is very hard to catch: would you like a game in which 14
people look for an specific ant in a garden?. I like Quidditch as it is.
The main goal is to catch the snitch, while the Seeker is at this, the
Chasers look to score which helps the Seeker as they still make points.
And the Beaters distract the opposite Chasers and Seeker. The function
of the Keeper is obvious.
I believe that the only person who CAN catch the snitch is the Seeker. I
guess they needed to find something else for the rest of the team to do
while the seeker went after the snitch.
If I recall correctly, according to Quidditch Through the Ages the Snitch
was added to the game later, partly because it was a way to end the game,
which otherwise tended to go on until everyone fell off their brooms from
exhaustion.
