OF the possible changes - it is most likely that THAT is how JKR wrote
it. The word UPON is spelled correctly - and the meaning is clear anyway
- so it is unlikely an editor would change that. They are looking for
things that are WRONG.

A good editor does a lot more than just correct spelling and grammar.

While that is true, this is not the kind of thing that an editor would
place much emphasis on. This is especially true of the US editor - who
would probably chalk this up to the British English.

We are familiar with the word 'upon' in the US.

This whole thing strikes me as much ado about nothing.
