Any Publicity Is Good Publicity...

...and JKR knows it. Look at this board, all fired up again, after all the
DH conversation died down by late August.

For all you youngsters who are out there, complaining that those of us who
are scoffing at JKR's AFTERTHOUGHT OF IMMENSE PROPORTIONS and calling
"homophobes," etc., give it some thought: Dumbledore's being gay is not
the issue. Revealing some
completely inconsenquential RANDOM minutiae about a major character after
all is said and done and ended well is the issue. No different than if
JKR had suddenly decided to tell us, "Dumbledore was really from outer
space!" or, "Dumbledore had a shellfish allergy!" or, "Dumbledore was
born
with six toes on his right foot!" It's an obvious ploy by JKR...no
groundwork was laid for this revelation. She provided an explanation for
his falling-out with Grindelwald already. Now to say there was this whole
other subtext to that relationship and its end is inane. Besides which,
IT
ADDS NOTHING to the stories and MAKES NO DIFFERENCE. So why say it,
other
than to attract attention back to herself and the books at this late
date?
BECAUSE CHRISTMAS IS COMING and Amazon has a nice, boxed set of the entire
series, attractively packaged in an antique-looking trunk, just perfect for
gift-giving!
I've lost a lot of respect for her because of her obvious neediness.
