Finito Harry Potter

I saw comments from our shell shocked AFHP community members Bad
Writing... Whats the whole point... Shes a fraud... etc. I just could
not resist coming back to the group for one final post.

It was not just bad writing ... it probably brings out many flaws in
her character. She knows that her books are good ... for children. Not
for any serious adult reading children's literature. Serious analysts
of her books have simply given up on the series and its ending. Given
that background, she is attempting to give a pseudo serious turn to
the whole plot by attempting to play up to anti-discrimination angle
by Oh By the way ... mention. She is also a little peeved at the fact
that she wrote a seven part series where no woman played a big role,
both the major players were men (or should I say three including LV).
She plotted Dumbledore initially as an all-knowing Gandalf-like
character, but then changed horses midway. She grew weary of
Dumbledore clubs and Dumbledore fans who took attention from the
writer and Harry. Something like a writer falling jealous of the
creation, akin to Conan Doyle killing off Holmes. She has now added
another dimension to her hate for Dumbledore character (she probably
hated her strict school master??) by mentioning something about his
life more as an afterthought or as an omission that she didnt have the
guts to put in the book.

If espousing tolerance towards special groups was her "theme of the
day", she would have given it more dignity if she had the guts to
bring it into her books. Casually tossing such a tidbit in an
interview has actually demeaned the cause and given a "dirty"
connotation to the whole angle. Now there will be tounges wagging if a
"special group" school master is any more or less desirable than a
"special group" preacher given that the person is in a position of
power and control over young minds. It would have been far more
acceptable if the books had indeed portrayed life at school inclusive
of a school master of a particular orientation. Now, a lot of
characters that kids have loved to like will have question marks over
them.

All actions of DD would now be put under a microscope of "swing".
Actions that kids would have construed as nobility on the part of DD
would lose it sting. Hagrid's protection and reinstatement as well as
close association with DD would be now up for grabs! So would all the
oddballs like Lupin (was he swinging either way?!), Snape(unrequieted
secret love, never had the guts to proposition a female, turned which
way?), Lockhart (Handsome but evidently hairbrained, did he really
like his female fans or was it all a put on?), Quirrel (fumbling,
mumbling, bungling but DD likes him!), Mad Eye Moody ("wedded" to his
cause but little else), Slughorn (slothy, had very suspicious set of
friends, but mostly a "dandy"). All the school teachers would somehow
lose respect simply because they are not paired up ... one way or
another.

To me it appears that this off the cuff remark has well and truly
driven home the final nail in the coffin of the prospect of this
series inspiring any future generation of kids.

Finito Harry Potter.
