Iraq is a synthetic country created by the west and, like it or not, Saddam was the glue holding it together. Now that they can supposedly decide for themselves, every group wants a piece of the action with all possible consequences. The presence of US troops only delays the inevitable. Were it not for the oil, no American would give a hoot in hell about Shi'as, Sunnis or Kurds.

Don't confuse Americans with the American government, or oil companies.
