In this case it symbolized Luna following the beat of a different
drummer (i.e., not doing what the normal, expected thing would be.)
like her so they took her belongings, and hid them. Yes, she walks to
the beat of a different drummer, and she could have transfigured
something into trainers, but she was too proud to let them get the upper
hand, so she just went barefoot. Not too logical, but IS what the book
said.
She could have said "Accio, shoes!"....I mean she was in Ravenclaw..
shoes? No thanks.
Since Luna was only in her 4th year, I figured that she hadn't yet learned the
Accio spell.
