<TOTAL SNIP>

While reading your posting, I saw myself standing at my father's desk
and looking over his shoulder while controlling my finances when I was
20. He was a staunch supporter of the Vietnam war and a Nixon man
through and through. Looking at my checkbook, he forbade me further $5
membership in the ACLU paid out of my earned money. It took him over 2
decades to apologize for that one.

Why wouldn't he let you?

Read some US history.
In the 1960 & 70's ACLU was seen as subversive, communist, anti-South,
anti-American, anti-god, pacifist, ultra left-wing, and a Jewish conspiracy
to control America. Many Americans still see them that way.

Given that Chris's father support the war (which the ACLU protested against)
and his admiration of Nixon (who HATED the ACLU), he forbad his son giving
the ACLU any money.

I see your posting as a signal from somewhere that those $5 were well
invested after all. I applaud your obvious engagement in protecting our
1st amendment.

Now-a-days it's $35 a year (or more) plus another $10 (or more) a month if
you want the monthly news letter.

Hmm; nice try to change subjects here and snipping content.

Sue, Chris's reply was to me and about the fact I support free speech. The
rest of content of the post wasn't required since Chris was not commenting
on it. If you want to continue your debate with Chris over info snipped in
this post, reply to a previous post by Chris in this thread.

So what
exactly are you saying here that you didn't pay dues to the American
Civil Liberties Union and glad you didn't?

SUE! Your letting me down! Haven't you already decided what Chris meant by
his comment? (^_^)

No Chris didn't pay his dues but only because his father forbade him to do
so. In the 1970's amoung strongly authoritarian families like most Germans
had, the Father DID control the finances of his children while they still
lived at home.

Moreover since it was Chris's father who appologized for stopping him, Chris
wasn't glad about not paying the dues.

OUR 1st Amendment? You
have lived here in 35 years... where does this OUR come into place?

Since the day Chris was born an American. If he were to move to the Moon,
the USA will still be as much HIS country as it is yours. He can talk about
*our* consitution all he wants to.

OTOH, the 37 years interest accumulated on 5 bucks isn't really enough
for the amount of Rosmerta's best that I would share with you. So just
drop by the next time you're in the hood.

Actually depending on your rate, that money should have doubled itself
in 10-12 years time and then so on. You should be able to buy a nice
bottle with it.

Depends on how much Rosmerta's best goes for; 35 years would be about $40.
Being a Scotland bar or Inn, it would most likely be a Single Batch Malt
Scotch Whiskey aged at least 20 years (or the Magic worlds equivalent of
that) Some of those vintages go for $20 or more a shot at a bar.
I can drink more than 2 shots, many more if someone else (sober) is doing
the driving.

At this point, my argument is with Chris. This is WAY too long and
because (and it may be my newsreader I don't know but when I hit
reply, everything is in blue and it's hard determining where
everything starts and stops). I don't want to snip and I don't want
to have to argue with another person over this as it's between him and
I. People have Chris' and my posts. They have the dates and by
Chris' own words his story. If they think I am out of line that's
fine. I don't care. But hopefully they'll be watching him now. If
so, I've done my job. All I ever wanted was to make people aware of
the subtle hatred he spews. It's all negative with no denials. So
people can just judge quietly. I don't like seeing fighting, so my
only goal is to point out these things and if people realize that
there is some hate being spews, they are at least aware of it and can
disregard it. If there's not, then no harm done right? They can
believe or not believe what they will. I guess to most it's all
irrelevant anyway. To me it's not. I'll respond strictly to acts of
bashing against myself or point out his crap when he spouts it. If he
doesn't spout hate then I guess this will be a peaceful board. I am
leaving it at that because I am really getting tired of having to
repeat myself. All the accusations and the inferences are already
stated and I've nothing more to add.
