Now if Ron had to reproduce a long phrase in parseltongue like "I
command
the Secret Chamber of Salazar Slytherin to open up" rather than just
"open,"
I would agree it was Deus Ex Machina.

LOL, like "Speak to me, Slytherin, greatest of the Hogwarts four!"

Lots of us can sing the French songs Frere Jacques and Sur Le Pont...
but can't understand a word of what they're singing.

I know, I know, I was just commenting what a feat it would be if he
managed to repeat what Riddle had said when Ginny was taken to the
CoS.

Although, IIRC, Ron didn´t hear it, he was trapped back at the
entrance with Lockhart, wasn´t he?

Technically yes, for the actual inner door to the chamber, but the entrance
was in hidden as a sink in Moaning Myrtle's bathroom. Harry had to say
"open" in Parseltongue here as well, matter of fact it was Ron who suggested
Harry try using parseltongue.

Actually doesn't that help clarify the difference in personality and
temperament between Voldy & Harry? That when faced by the CoS inner door
Voldy says something pompous and arrogant, while Harry just say "open"?
