O.k. - so I've just come back from a weekend in Venice (yeah yeah bigWow...pretty freaky! :)
deal) and some things
struck me in St. Marks Square which lead me to believe that JK Rowling
has been there.
1) Apparently the guidebooks all say there's an enormous basilisk
there. Couldn't see it
myself - perhaps it was hiding in the pipes in the big church.
2) I was having a beer outside one of the bars there at night, I
looked up and nearly fell
off my chair - the bar was called "AUROR". (This was nearly true, when
I moved I could see
a letter previously hidden by a column, it was actually called
"AURORA" but hey, it's
close enough for me).
3) This is the clincher (and also absolutely true) a couple of yards
away from the
AUROR's bar I had one of the best ice-creams I've ever had in
FLORIAN's bar and cafe. Ring
any bells?
There you are then, irrefutable proof that JRK got all her best ideas
whilst drinking
and eating in St. Mark's Square.
:-)
