I read this differently. Throughout the book, the Malfoys were no
longer enthusiastic supporters, but couldn't extricate themselves.
She wanted out, and had no way of doing it. And first and formost was
her devotion to her son. So she made the best decision that she could
to get her into the castle sooner rather than later., and I believe
she hoped that Harry would find a way to kill Voldemort.
Obviously, had LV survived she had tried to punish her for lying to him.
