A major part of the Snape good or evil bit is, we simplify good to
mean pro DD, and evil pro V. In the grander scheme of things, who can
truly say? There's good and evil in us all. Ickle Snapey was good,
teaching Lily about magic and such. Teen Snape began going evil.
Adult Snape went good to save/avenge Lily. Still a giant jerk though,
As is his nature.
What if it had been LV's case, instead? Ok, he always was evil, since he was a child, BUT, if he had cared about someone in the way Snape was, does that mean there is some good inside? probably some positive feeling but nothing else. I do think Snape was "good" at the beginning, but he went completely dark when he grew up, despite what he felt for Lily.
Was DD good? Teen DD wasn't. Adult DD was. Though his plans for
Harry show he wasn't. Until V resurrected with Harry's blood. Then
DD's plan could come to fruition, and still allow Harry to live.
DD always thought about "the greater good". The greater good was to defeat LV, I guess. Harry was the tool.
Were Fred and George good? They fought against V, but their joke
testing leaves much to be desired for. They were quite cruel to Ron
and Percy (before his hiatus form the family).
There's good and evil in us all. A lot of it is a matter of
perspective. Snape fought against V. Regardless of why, he's good
enough for me.
I never thought he fought LV. More like "don't get him kill Potter". As LV's most obsessed mission was to kill him, what he did was important.
