Spoilers for HP 7 Deadly Hallows
1. Ron could fake parseltongue and get into chamber of secrets? WTF???
Apparently that means that the password just has to sound right. Ron
could make the sound, having heard it repeatedly, though he had no
comprehension of the language.
5. A desperate voldemort who is racing against time to save his
remaining horcruxes declares a ultimatum and gives harry an extra hour
to run around finding/destroying horcruxes?! Is LV a congenital idiot?
He apparently assumed that Harry had done as much of that as he would
be able to do, and he gave Harry that extra hour to improve the odds
that Harry would actually come to him. As it happened, he was right
(though he did give Harry time to consult the Pensieve). BTW, Tom
Riddle was probably not happy about waging a battle against Hogwarts.
He might have wanted to think that he didn't have to resume that
battle.
Besides, he seems to have assumed long ago that he alone knew about
that junk room.
Why would he think that? Did I miss something? Wasn't the room full of
junk already when LV placed his horcrux there?
Apparently he didn't understand the Room of
Requirement nearly as well as Neville.
7. Lupin was really loony in this book. What the hell happened to the
reserved, flawed and wise Lupin from Book 3? A great character was
turned into a melodramatic idiot.
Disappointing, but not entirely unlike real life. People do crack
under that kind of strain.
Yeah, I suppose. Disappointing none the less. I wonder why JKR felt it
fit to potray Lupin like that? What plot point did it serve?
9. The way people (McGonagall) were throwing around forbidden curses
was surprising. They made such a big deal out of it. It seemed out of
character that McGonagal would not have moral objections to their use
(if not legal ones).
It makes a huge difference who's doing the forbidding. They would feel
more justified when the main users of those spells are running the
Ministry.
I always assumed that the good guys (DD, McGo) refrain from using the
forbidden curses not because they were forbidden under pain of tenure
at Azkaban but because they were unethical.
I mean is fear of incarceration the only thing that keeps you from
stealing or murdering people?
10. No explanation was gives as to why hogwarts sided with OOTP in the
battle of hogwarts rather than the DE who were actually running the
school. Hogwarts can make moral judgments?
No, the Death Eaters were not running the school. Two of them had been
appointed to teach subjects of particular political significance and
given powers to abuse students. Other than that, Snape was Headmaster,
but he was not exactly loyal to Voldemort. In fact, it seems possible
that his decision to abandon the school completely was not because he
was outnumbered at that moment but because his work there was done,
and/or because he had to go back to Voldemort and deceive him one last
time.
12. Why didn't voldemort make a run for it when he was cornered and
all his horcruxes had been destroyed. He never seemed to have problem
running away before. What kind of idiot would cast a killing curse for
a third time after it had backfired twice already.
The kind of idiot who feels the need to believe that this time he's
finally made sure that it will work.
Harry defeats voldemort because voldemort was a stupid idiot doesn't
sound very satisfactory does it?
