I am quite certain of the validity of the illustrations. The style is distinctive, to say the least. Fonts could be copied with some effort.

The style of illustrations can be faked as well.

By whom? I have seen some of the fan art, and NONE of it is up to the standards of those illustrations. It would take a professional, and very talented, artist to copy that style of illustration so well.
