DH rumour list

Over the past day or two I've compiled, for my blog site, a list of
the more obvious rumours and possibilities which I've printed below.

Anyone like to add a few more? No doubt there are thousands of
variations but we can check after the book launch to see if we've come
up with something close to the truth!! :)

==============

Harry Potter and the Rampant Theories

1. Almost certainly Harry will have to search out each and every
Horcrux. Rumour has it *he* is a Horcrux himself when the Avada
Kedavra that destroyed Voldemort backfired. If this is true the
implication is that he will die. Or? perhaps as in the Order of the
Phoenix, will Harry?s power of ?love? be able to drive that part of
Voldemort out of his brain.

2. The veil at the Department of Mysteries will feature largely
inasmuch as we are assured by Luna that ?behind the veil? are the
spirits of the dead. Does this mean Dumbledore and Sirius will make
another appearance in some form? Some people seem to think this is a
real possibility!

3. On a theme, there are suggestions Harry will have to travel through
the veil himself in order to complete the task set out before him.
Does this mean he really *will* die? or is there a way back we know
nothing about? yet.

4.There is a suggestion that the relationship between ?Hallows? and
?Halloween? might suggest Voldemort has a team of ?somethings? (inferi
maybe?) in place that protect the Horcrux. If so? more complications
for poor Harry!

5. Another option is that Rowling has created an as yet unknown
relationship between the words ?Hollow? and ?Hallow? to the effect?
maybe? that Godric?s Hollow has spiritual connotations? Since she has
consistently avoided any religious overtones. perhaps JKR has invoked
the ?magic? associated with Ley Lines and Godric?s Hollow is a point
where several lines cross giving it exceptional significance?

6. The Wikipedia entry for ?All Hallows? suggests it might actually
refer to ?All Saints?? though what sort of saint JKR would invoke is
open to question bearing in mind ?5? above!

7. Snape will turn out to be good not evil and assist Harry in the
completion of the task of finally defeating Voldemort. Hard to believe
bearing in mind the virtual certainty he finished off Dumbledore in
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Price? but still? this *is* a Potter
book!

8. Draco (a) will be the fulcrum that aids Harry? yadda, yadda, yadda?
(b) will be killed by Voldemort for his failure to follow his task
despite Dumbledore?s death and Lucius will die trying to save him.
This one is a bit outlandish? but who knows? :)

9. Hermione has been suggested by JKR herself to be the sort of
schoolgirl she wished she had been. There are suggestions it is *she*
who will be killed off as one of the two main characters who will be
killed in the final book. Add Ron in there since there is no obvious
clue in the books to link either of them to ?death?

10. Dobby will be leaving Hogwarts and going to The Burrow to live.
Sounds like a good one! Ron said Molly always wanted a house elf to
help out.

11. Snape really *is* bad. Bearing in mind his history this is not
that hard to believe.

12. Snape has allegiance neither to good nor evil. He is following
Voldemort?s dictum in ?The Philosophers Stone? that there is no good
or evil? only power. This is one of my favourite theories.

13. Dudley is also a wizard and his parents (or maybe just Petunia?)
know it but through his life have suppressed any possibility of
developing his gift. However, he will *find* his power when his
parents are attacked either whilst Harry is at Privet Drive for the
last time or just after he leaves. Some suggest the Dursley?s will all
die, but bearing mind JKR?s assertion that ?only? two main characters
die I think it?s unlikely.

14. Godric Gryffindor?s sword will be what is used to finally kill
Voldemort since it?s clear (a) Harry isn?t powerful enough to defeat
Bellatrix with magic let alone her master so what is essentially a
muggle artifact would add some sweet irony to his demise. (b) Harry
uses the sword because he and Voldemort share wand cores and cannot
fight one another using them. (c) Harry received the sword from Dobby
somehow. This sets up a possible scene where Dobby can move to The
Burrow.

15. The locket that Dumbledore thought he was retrieving was stolen
(somehow) by Regulus Black and it has been secreted by Kreacher at 12
Grimmauld Place.

16. One Horcrux is hidden in the Room of requirements where Harry hid
Snape?s potions book. Either way it appears the room will feature in
some way.

17. Dumbledore will have made a will in which more of the backstory
will be revealed and possibly leave Harry something crucial for the
completion of his task. So whilst Dumbledore is dead and won?t
reappear alive? his influence *will* be felt heavily through the book
as a real presence! Don?t forget the will, the pensieve *and*(very
importantly) Dumbledore?s portrait! Any or all of these may provide
the crucial clue to
Harry?s success.

18. Neville avenges his parents and kills Bellatrix and/or her
husband.

19. Harry is carrying all of Voldemorts knowledge of magic in a part
of his brain he's not yet accessed. It was transferred to him at the
moment the AK failed and Harry will be able to access this knowledge
'at the last' and use it to defeat Voldemort.

The last book will appear on the shelves within weeks? this isn?t a
rumour. :D
