In the graveyard scene of GoF, why was he able to
stand by while LV throws an AK at Harry. Seems as
though his life debt should have compelled him to
step in and do something.

If he owed him a life debt really and cared about it why did he help
LV to rise to power again? He might be stupid but he´s not that stupid
that he didn´t realise that LV intended to kill Harry!
