"They call it the Dementor's Kiss," Mallory read, verbatim, "it's what
dementors do to those they wish to destroy utterly... suck out his
soul.... There's no chance at all of recovery. You'll just -- exist. As
an empty shell. And your soul is gone forever... lost."

Sooo...doing what Mallory wants and FORCING students in school to read her
bible where souls will burn in the pits of hell and be tormented for all
eternity for committing some sin (like eating meat on a Friday) is fine, but
kids who CHOOSE to sign out and read a book about a murdering criminal whose
soul is sucked out as punishment for his crimes is a bad thing??? What a
fruitloop this lady is.

Most folks here in Atlanta think she's fruitloopy too. I can't believe
she's still wasting our government's time with her silly little
crusade.

Linda Lou

I can't believe the Gov humors her by wasting their time with her.

It's the Press, not the Gov that is humoring here. Her local school
board in Gwinnett gave here a hearing, which of course, wasted a lot
of time, but she lost and appealed to the State school board which
simply reviewed the Gwinnett minutes and refused to listen to her
case. So whe went to the Georgia State Court. Standards there are
tighter, it can't just be a bad book, it has to be illegal, so she
lost and no state court would take her appeal. Appeals courts always
start by reviewing the finding of the lower courts, the opinion of the
lower courts were solid so the appeals court didn't take the case. So
her only recourse now is the Federal system which will only take the
case if there is something siriusly wrong with having HP in the
schools. She hasnpt won on any level and at most levles, they have
not even taken the case, since this isn't really a crime, but a school
board issue which the courts don't really care about. There is
nothing illegal about having controversial books in the curriculum, so
the courts are refusing to handle the appeal. The reason this keeps
popping up is that she keeps talking to reporters who seem to think
this is an interesting situaton and have space/time to kill/fill.
