Was Lily's love for Harry the only thing that had power over
LV, or was
there something more?
I suspect that Lily's love for Harry, as an explanation for his
survival
of the AK Curse, may be the Mother of all Red Herrings. It may
have
been his love for her which did that.
He so loved his mom, that he let her die for him?
He didn't even know she was in danger.
He so loved his mom that when she died and he magically felt the
psychic
blast, that his fury destroyed Voldemort's body and the house
around them
all?
Remember, even his friends get nervous when Harry loses his temper.
As a kid, he let a boa constrictor loose on Dudley without even
intending
to. As a teenager, he inflated Aunt Marge so that she flew up
around the
neighborhood and had to be deflated by professionals. Locked
doors open
as he runs toward them, etc.
=Tamar
But he was aware of those situations. A baby knows not. And we
don't
know if he felt any psychic blasts, or what they mean.
We do know Lily's love saved Harry. It's the whole point. If her
love did squat, there'd be nor ancient magic protecting Harry.
I have always wondered at this protection that is not there - Dobby
has entered the house and noone in the wizarding world noticed. My
deduction - anybody could have done the same and killed Harry. Where
is the shelter there? He is two streets away and attacked by dementors
- nobody comes to save him - he´s got to do it on is own and is
getting into big trouble by this. Noone knows about the dementors
though, except Umbridge who sent them - astonishingly just the second
where Mundungus leaves his watch! How did she know that exactly this
second was perfect? She couldn´t even have known about the watch as it
was planned and done by the OotP!!! This is all very odd....
Dobby had no evil intent, but rather came to help. The protection is
against those who bear Harry ill will. Even the Death Eaters seem
to be
able to get into the general vicinity of 4 Privet Drive, they just
can't
find Harry IF he is in the house. The would, likely be able to detect
his guard as well, which would pretty much pinpoint the house, but they
can't make that connection. Dementors might well be able to detect
him,
but wouldn't be able to reveal his location to anyone else.
JKR's world isn't so comprehensive that all bases are covered, there
are
cracks in the structure.
According to you Harry has something like a natural Fidelius charm
working on Privet Drive 4. I just wonder where you derive that from
and of what use it is or has been. Harry used to go to school before
Hogwarts. School in England is from morning till afternnon and Harry
definately tried to get away from the house as often as possible. On
the other hand you could think that all those punishments he got from
Vernon, to stay in the cupboard or later in his room for a long time,
gives this a different sense and implies that Vernon knows about the
great responsibility they have.
Petunia knows, for certain. As to Vernon, he just hates Harry, magic,
and witches and wizards. Not sure why.
And the protection does seem much like a Fidelius Charm even though it
doesn't seem to protect Harry outside the house. His school days
wouldn't really have been a problem since Voldemort was bodiless at
the time, and most of the Death Eaters had given up on him.
I don't equate the protection to the Fidelius charm at all - when V
returned in GOF - he stated - " to ensure his protection as long as he
is in his relations' care. Not even I can touch him there".
That means that V knew he was in the care of the Dursleys - but he
couldn't do anything to Harry there. It also implies that he was
protected even outside the house - as long as he was in their care. So
he would have been protected at school and other activities.
The Fidelius would only have prevented V from Finding Harry when he was
with the Dursleys.
Yes - there seem to be cracks - especially the dementor showing up. But
- it is clear that V thought Harry was safe as long as the Dursleys were
taking care of him.
Well, if Voldy can't find him at 4 Privet Drive, or at 12 Grimmauld
(Grim Old Place?), then how do owls find him?
It's not the FC that is connected to 4 privet. Voldy knows he's
there, might even see him there, but he can't harm him there. But,
the same magic that keeps Harry safe at Privet also keeps him safe
(suposedly) when he's away from Privet, just so he goes home once a
year.
But, my question: if Harry is Safe because of a protection that will
be ending soon, what will life be like for him when he is less safe?
His life is already quite dangerous.
