Lupin had been a good second choice because I agree with Sirius, he had been the most obvious guess, but suddenly, Sirius thought that his friend, the one he became Animagus for, was a spy? All of a sudden his friend werewolf was a traitor? Wonder if Peter had something to do with that too.
