Re: Other series like Harry Potter

I have heard that there are other writers out there, whose books are
along the lines of Harry Potter.
Would someone give me the names of these writers?

Not mentioned here yet is this series of books by Susan Cooper, another
of Rowling's acknowledged influences:

_Over Sea, Under Stone_
_The Dark is Rising_
_Greenwitch_
_The Grey King_
_Silver on the Tree_

It's Potter-like in that it has one overarching story in which kids have
to save the world from dark forces, and it draws heavily on British
mythology. It's heavier on the plot coupons and lighter on the character
development.

_The Dark is Rising_ is the best-known of the books, and it's okay to read
it first; the kid from that story doesn't join up with the others until
_The Grey King_, if memory serves.
