winning. And when they did finally lose, the Order arrived to take
over. It all balances out to a stalemate in the end. Both sides were

victory to hold onto. But it all averages out to a tie.

May I disagree? Harry & co got what they wanted. Harry heard his prophecy
all of the same, even if he did in another scenario. The difference that the
battle makes, though, is that Voldy does not know that Harry knows, he
should by now think that the prophecy is lost. Therefore it's likable that
the battle at the MOM produces a tactical advance for the OotP. It's a
slight advantage, but if you went for a break-even and you win 1-0, it's
more important than nothing...

Well, I count the DA separate from the Order. So while a tactical
advantage for the Order, it doesn't really affect the DA. Harry is
still unaware that he must kill or be killed. Neither side got he
prophecy, the kids held the DE's off as long as they could, and
basically tied out with them. The DA, did however, shift the battle
in favor of the Order.

In fact, V seems panicky, in that he's increased the attacks,
recruiting Dementors and everything else he can. his re-existence is
no known. Thatw as his greatest advantage. One being helped by the
MOM. He might be winning but he's lashing out in his death throws. He
also backs down from anything major. Doesn't go after any know
weapons. Doens't do major recruiting by Sept. Everything seems in
place. Harry is still alive and a threat, but he seems to be waiting
for the Ancient Magic to wear off. He know has to deal with Lucius'
constant failures, including never finding him a decade more ago, and
getting his diary horcrux destroyed. So he sets Draco on a fool's
errand to get him killed. He does not expect some punk kid to kill
DD. In fact, how would it look for a kid to kill the only man
Vodlemrot ever feared? How scary is this guy if some brat can kill
him.

The final battle will be right after the last major offense V can
launch. And we have no idea who'll stand, who'll fall. And we can't
even say if any side will truly win, because we don't know the
causality list yet. it might be another draw. V's defeated, the DE's
disbanded, but so many good guys dead/injured/insane/cursed/etc.
