If someone in my family had a life changing disease and I heard of someone who had a cure for it I would move heaven and earth to try to get them to tell/show me this cure. If they had been a werewolf and I read/heard of this chap that claimed to have turned one back into a man then I would find out how he claimed to have done it. Would imagine those people who live in the wizarding world would be the same.
