I see this as a really important question. Does V know everything that
Harry knows about his parents? Either way, Im sure this information is
going to play a key role in how Harry manages to complete his mission.
But I had always assumed Harry was just being told information that V
already knew about his parents. If Harry knows more, it is a very
different situation.


Coincidentally, I just re-read the graveyard scene in GoF, and this
is what Voldemort said to Harry about his family:

"You see that house upon the hillside, Potter? My father lived
there. My mother, a witch who lived here in this village, fell
in love with him. But he abandoned her when she told him what
she was ... he didn't like magic, my father ...
"He left her and returned to his Muggle parents before I was
even born, Potter, and she died giving birth to me, leaving me
to be raised in a Muggle orphanage ... but I vowed to find him
... I revenged myself upon him, that fool who gave me his name
... Tom Riddle ..."

It does seem possible that he still didn't know the whole story.

If he did know the whole thing, he assumed that once Riddle was free of the potion, he was supposed to stay with her and left because he couldn't accept his wife was a witch. If he doesn't, then he probably thinks that they fell in love, and he left when he knew his wife was a witch.
