so we know that snape got this way for a reason, and didnt start out
evil -
he was bullied into it

Ok, where's the evidence in the books that Snape was a swell,
all-round-good-egg when he arrived at hogwarts at age eleven? And where's
the evidence that the bullying caused him to turn evil and becoming a DE.

- that makes sense.

No, it doesn't. From what I understand, in general, kids who are bullied at
school (and the "at school" is very important here, not at home) rarely
become bullies themselves. They are more prone to have low self-esteem and
be at a higher risk for teen suicide. Once out of high school and on to
college or university (where bullying is extremely rare), victims of
bullying tend to normalize and turn into normal adults -- though some of the
time, there is some long term effects if the bullying was severe enough.

Curiously, I've noticed that it's the bully themselves that tend to go on
and continue bullying in adulthood -- though it manifests itself in
different ways. They become abusive to co-workers, abusive to spouse and
own children, and abusive in positions of authority. At work, I've noticed
that they create little 'cliques' that ring very similar to ones in high
school that give preferential treatment to those on the inside (promotions,
raises, perks) and exclude the outsiders.

Back to the books, Snape is an adult. He is responsible for his own actions
and decisions. He is completely aware of what Voldemort stood (and still
stands) for.
Also, being bullied at school is no excuse for him to be abusive to the
students in his class.
