Browsing some of the discussion/debate about Snape
killing Dumbledore, I'm surprised that it doesn't
revolve around Draco Malfoy. Draco's struggle over
what he should do is drawn out in the most dramatic
terms with everything else swirling around them as
almost a mere backdrop. The climax is entirely about
Draco's decision and Dumbledore's attempt to save
him. Unlike in all of the previous books, Harry's
merely a helpless spectator in the climax.

I do wonder why, given Dd and Snape both strongly suspected Draco was
planning on doing something, they didn't have a word with him earlier on.
After all, one student was nearly killed with the necklace, then Ron was
nearly killed by the mead meant for Dd via Sluggy. Surely that was the time
to approach Draco - even if Dd wasn't worried about his own fate, then there
were the other students to worry about in case they got in the way.

Or was it a double jeopardy in that if Dd confronted Draco, Snape would have
been forced to act?

Before replying, I was thinking on possibilities - besides plot - for DD not talking with Draco before, but I couldn't find any :S.
See, unless Draco communicated with LV while he was at Hogwarts, there is no real danger he might Legimens his mind and see he was disobeying or betraying him.

Actually, I can understand DD not acting after Katie was attacked (it was Katie or Alicia?) but no after what happened to Ron. If talking with Draco was dangerous, then he could have taken him and his mother to a hidden place, and LV had assumed they were both killed by DD and the order.

And, *if* Snape is in fact not in LV's side and was aware of that, he could have known about via Snape, but if he is really good, we could easily assume he has learned to block LV from his mind.
