2. In the last book Lupin mentioned that unrequited love can diminish a
witch's
or wizard's magical powers. In the next book, Harry will pine for Ginny
and will
be weakened too. Harry will realize this after awhile and make things
right with
Ginny - at Christmas. A longshot prediction here: like Tonks, the strain
of
unrequited love will cause a change in Harry's patronus and its new form
will be
a lion (representing Ginny).

Well, it's not exactly unrequited in Harry's case. He likes Ginny.
They will just be separated for a while.

*** JOE: Ditto on the "unrequited love" angle - I think your no. 2 point is
way off on that one.
Ginny won't play a part in the final battle and is probably going to be
killed.

I'm really surprised that you and G think Ginny is going to be killed. To me,
that would perhaps be the worst possible character to kill off.

Ginny is beautiful, sexy and vivacious and so represents the good things in
life. To kill her off would be tantamount to killing hope itself; that is,
Harry's hope for a good life. Without Ginny around, Harry's mission becomes an
end in itself, and Harry becomes some sort of cosmic tool without a flesh and
blood reason to keep fighting. Sure he'd be noble and all that, but nobility of
and by itself is very dry, JMO.

IMO, you're over-valuing Ginny. As a character, she's not in the same
league as, say, Hermione or Ron. She's not even in the same league as
Hagrid or Lupin. Until the last book, Harry didn't even like her, and
she was more or less relegated to a small role as Ron's younger sister
who used to tag Harry around once in a while. Losing her would not be
a major loss to the story (although, granted, poor Harry has had
enough loss so far to last him a lifetime). There are a zillion other
potential wives out there, and Harry (if he lives) has the rest of his
life to find one and settle down. There's no rule that Harry has to be
semi-married before the end of book 7. The epilogue can sketch out
the outline of what came later for him...
