HP6:

"Tonks's Patronus has changed its form," he told him. "Snape said so
anyway. I didn't know that could happen. Why would your Patronus
change?"

Lupin took his time chewing his turkey and swallowing before saying
slowly, "Sometimes ... a great shock ... an emotional up-heaval ..."

This may come as a surprise to you, Aselloth, but I was fully aware of
the passage you quote. Until book 7, I remain wary of secondhand 'facts'
stated by characters who might be mistaken or lying, penned by an author
notorious for her plot twists. An insight to my thinking may be gained
by ~not~ snipping the second half of my statement, which read...

"That witch wasn't Tonks."

How can you seriously think Tonks isn't really Tonks. I don't think we
have another case of Polyjuice Potion and a stolen personality. Tonks
loves Lupin. Lupin is wary of getting into a relationship. Tonks'
patronus has changed because of the "emotional up-heaval", as Lupin
puts it, of discovering love. Snape just pointed out that the new
Patronus was weak, which makes a dig at her because at the time the
love was apparently unrequited. Now that Tonks and Lupin are together,
her new Patronus might get stronger.

Lupin is the perfect person to ask about Patronuses, since he was one
of the best DADA professors Hogwarts had had in *ages*. I should think
he'd be right if he said that a Patronus can change. His answer isn't
guesswork -- he's wary of the dicussion because he probably knows
exactly why her patronus has changed, and he's not sure how to talk to
Harry about something so personal between himself and Tonks....

This also leads the way for someone else's Patronus to change in Book
7, or for us to find out someone else's changed much earlier. Good
candidates for a Patronus change are: 1] Harry, 2] Snape...uh, anyone
else?

Dumbledore. Whatever the potion was making him remember, might have
changed his Patronus.
