Oh, please.
You can hear a bolt of lightning, and that travels roughly the speed of
light. I would certainly use phrases like "roaring past" and "blazing
across" when describing a lightning bolt arcing between clouds or to
but surely something observed to be "roaring past" across the sky must
be travelling faster than something observed to be roaring past in the
same way, across is classroom.
"Roaring past" in any environment doesn't imply a slow speed. Quite the
opposite, I think.
the ground. Therefore, such phrases don't imply the sort of low-speed
spell flight that you are determined to postulate, and upon which your
theories rely.
no it doesn't rely on that soley, LV needs to be able to cast the
horcrux creating spell quickly too. In GoF he cast as wordless spell
to curve harry's spine (to force him to bow) whilst talking, so i can't
see why he won't have had time enough to just miss fully getting out a
horcrux creating spell before the rebounding AK hit him.
Bending someone's spine is a simple physical force-type spell (not an
official term, of course). And no, the way in was in the movie (and how
I pictured it) was he spoke "bow," and then thought the spell with his
wand pointed at Harry. It's not all at the same time, because of course
that would be impossible. You can't think one word at *exactly* the
same instant as you speak another.
I just do not accept that the Horcrux spell can be cast even as quickly
as WL (swish and flick on steroids, I imagine). Therefore, there's not
enough time.
I will not accept JKR's logic if she claims that the Horcrux spell can
be cast faster than a simple spell like WL.
