I do remember the "good ole days" from time to time, but I'm able to
control that with medication.

In a strange way, it was easier to do
things on the net then (not going to go into exactly what) than it is
now because many of the safeguards and preventions that are in place
now weren't around then.

Well, perhaps, but it was mostly a text-only environment in the late
1980s. So the safeguards that are around now wouldn't have had much of
a function back then. If you wanted to exchange images, you had to
uuencode them and post them on Usenet, and then the receivers would
have had to have an image viewer. Most people didn't--at least, not
the people I hung around with. We were all reading rec.puzzles on our
dumb terminals. :)

I actually first heard of the WWW relatively late--early 1994, maybe
late 1993. By that time, it had already been around for a few years,
albeit mostly in an academic environment. It may be indicative of our
emotional maturity that many of us instantly saw how it could be
exploited for porn; we didn't anticipate (certainly not in degree) how
it would be exploited for profit.

I remember gophering and FTPing all over and wondering in wonder
