Like I was trying to say in my previous post, Snape instructional
technique is like that of a drill instructor. From his point of view
Neville needs to toughen up (Cowboy up, as the marines say) and get
ready cause the real stuff is about to hit the fan and blubbering over
his parents doesn't help anyone, least of all himself.
Snape is mean yes, but I am convinced it is out of a philosophy of
"tough love" not out of a desire to do evil.
