Well, let me try to figure out what you mean, and maybe you can help
me.  I will start be eliminating the double-negative, and presume that
you mean "Both might be changed."  My next question is "Changed from
what?"  I assume, of course, that both versions are different from some
previous draft.  But ... duh!  Of course!  There must have been a time
when she had not even written this passage yet.  Surely that is not
what you meant.  Or perhaps you mean (based on what you wrote below)
that both were changed BY EDITORS from JKR's "original".  But that was
hardly obvious.  It is also very silly.

Hence, "might be". The theoretical possibility exists.
