Hi people,
A while ago I resurrected an old PC to run as a FeeNAS box. It has a ASUS
K7V-T motherboard, an Athlon 650MHz processor and a Riva TNT graphics card.
The problem is that I can't get it to start up without a monitor, keyboard or
mouse. When I try, it defaults into the BIOS setup screen with Item Specific
Help "During the last boot-up, your system hung for an improper CPU external
speed setting. Your system is now working in safe mode (BUS: 100MHz DRAM:
100MHZ PCI: 33 MHz). ..... etc." in red.
THe external CPU speed setting (bus frequency) is set to the default, 100
MHz. (Mind you, I don't fully understand the relationship between the
processor speed (650 MHz), the CPU external frequency and the DRAM to CPU
Frequency ratio) but it still refuses to boot without a monitor.
In the BIOS 'Main' section the 'Halt On' configuration option is set to 'No
Error'. I thought that this setting would solve the problem, but it doesn't!
It does allow it to boot without a mouse and keyboard, however, but not
without a monitor.
Are there any other option settings I ought to make? Can anyone explain what
is going on and how I can get it to boot without a keyboard, mouse and
monitor? (I'm sure that when I first set it up as a FreeNAS box it worked
perfectly!).
in the BIOS there is a setting to not stop at errors , you have to set it to none so you can boot without keyboard, mouse and vga
.
