Re: Compatibility problem p4C800 mobo and TuniqTower 120 cooler

I'm trying to install a TuniqTower 120 on a asus P4C800 board.

At www.tuniq.com it says its compatible. However there appears to be
no way to contact the tuniq folks.

The little manual that comes with the product has had its images
reduced beyond any reason... to the point you can't really tell what
you are looking at... even with a magnifying glass they are very
difficult to see.

But the procedure of installing it isn't all that complicated.

However, after close examination with magnifying glass and some close
study of the parts contained in the kit, I've concluded it would have
to be assembled with the cooler set 90 degrees to the rear chassis
fan. Clearly not how it is intended to set.

I'm pretty certain that is not the desired configuration as it
appears it would block nearly all air flow out of the box... and a
youtube video installing this very cooler says its supposed to be
oriented so the fans blades point toward the top of the tower.

In that orientation it would supplement the air flow.

That youtube video is on a am2. Mine is intel socket 478.
There is an H shaped shiny metal piece that is the top side of the
clamp holding cooler plate to cpu. It can only go one way. And its
the wrong way.

I'm hoping someone here will have installed a tuniq and be able to
verify things a bit.

It says to remove the plastic retention bracket around the S478 socket.
There is supposed to be a back plate for S478, plus the "H" plate
for the top side, to hold the heatsink in place.

This is *not* S478, but gives a side view of an installation.

My guess would be - you'll find S478 motherboards with the socket
in either of two orientations. So there are boards, where the
socket is rotated 90 degrees with respect to your motherboard
and its design.

I don't have an S478 hole pattern in front of me - if it was
square, then you could rotate it. But if the hole pattern is
rectangular, I see that kit is only going to point one way.
