hello there i had a similar system as you a7n8x athlon x2 64 dual<snip>
core 4400 ETC.... nice system worked great for years , but i
decided to build a new system,
went with a ASUS P5E3 Deluxe WiFi motherboard , Q6600 quad core
cpu ( i went with INTEL this time and I AM SURE i made the right
choice, 1'st intel chip in decades) 2 gig OCR ddr3 memory , evga
8800 vidcard . 2 wd drives (all drives are SATA even dvd drives)
ASUS dvd burner, thermaltake ARMOUR case . ETC...
nice build. so after a few months running , i couldnt be happier ,
i run multiple app at once and no slowdowns like on my old system .
games run at high res and no slowdown or stutter and i can be online
at the same time, couldnt do that before . this system is one of the
nicest ive ever built and will do for many years and it should be
upgradeable for years to come ,
hope this helps you can put together some really nice stuff
nowadays. good luck and let us know what you do.
Hi Mike,
I've been lurking following this thread because I too have an ASUS
A7N8X-E deluxe and have been thinking about upgrading for a couple of
months now. I like what you and others have said about the P5E3 Deluxe
WiFi, and am probably going to go with it. However, I don't really
need WiFi capability. I looked at Newegg, and the Wifi board comes
with free shipping, which makes the cost proctically the same as the
non-Wifi board, so I guess its a no brainer to just go ahead with the
Wifi capability.
My question has to do with the OS. I'm leery of going with vista, and
am thinking of staying with XP. I'm curious as to what you're using
and why?
