Re: flashing the BIOS for the A7N8x e

However I was not able to get my computer to accept the memory module
after all the effort. I thought that the a7n8x was able to support 3 gigs of ram?

thank you
Kevin

A poster here, claims to have succeeded in running WinXP SP2 with 3GB.
Vista 32 bit had trouble with 2.5GB or 3GB installed. In another thread,
another OS had a different result. Have a look through vip.asus.com
for your board, and see what results others have got.

Crucial claims to have tested the A7n8x e deluxe motherboard with 3 1 gig strips
of ram and run it successfully. I haven't seen anything anywhere on the net that says
this motherboard running vista 32bit can run this much memory.

I appreciate all the help
looks like the ram gets shipped back to crucial

You could also try nforcershq.com, as there is a forum there with lots
of nforce2 experiences.

For example, a poster here, succeeded in running 3GB, when the video
driver is missing, and the system is using VGA graphics. That would
suggest there is some kind of resource problem, caused by >2GB physical
memory. Apparently even 2.25GB still had a problem.

all I have is the file called AWDFLASH.exe
I need a bios.bin file also?

What (newer?) BIOS file are you going to flash to the mother board? Go here and get the latest:
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx
http://support.asus.com/technicaldocuments/technicaldocuments.aspx?root=198&SLanguage=en-us

went out to bootdisk.com and downloaded there NTFSBOOT.iso image
it should have enabled me to boot my computer into dos right? Didn't work...

Did you see something like:
Loading from CD.....
You have to press enter then.
I have seen where the CD ROM has to be master on some motherboards.
Try a different boot disk.
Look here or Google:
