I'm thinking along the same lines - accuracy of the temp system isn't verytemp
good. My previous system running an older P4 would pull around 130f CPU
when encoding a DVD file. This rig today ran a DVD file and never wentabove
106f. As I type this, CPU temp is reporting 82f and MB - an astonishingly
frigid 35f!!! No, I'm not outdoors..... I think I'll leave it active till
after the wife shits herself over her first 491f alarm :)
I dont have this board, but some common causes are more than one program
trying to read the temp, software not set properly for the temp sensor type,
or faulty sensor/temp chip..
some boards in the past (and I really would hope a company like asus wouldnt
let it get back in) would conflict if you were running SpeedFan (or some
other temp/fan adjustment) options in the bios. As for the cpu showing
106f, that's possible, there can be huge variations from cpu to cpu, esp
when the heatsinks are different.
PcProbe has never been that good from what I remember ;).
