He doesn't say if he has included the JMicron drivers or not.

Are we to understand, then, that this new drive is the First SATA device
you have installed, and that the other devices are all IDE? IF so, it
sounds like you may not yet have installed the required SATA driver from
the motherboard's Installation CD.
Also, if you are not running XP SP2, then you need to install the XP SATA
drivers for the device. Microsoft did not begin including their required
SATA driver for the OS until XP SP2.

I'm trying to add a 500GB SATA II drive to my exixting 2 IDE drives on
a P5W DH Deluxe. IDE's are master/slave on the JMicron PRI EIDE port,
DVD drive is on the ICH7R PRI IDE port. SATA drive is on the red
SATA1 connector, and BIOS settings are pretty much stock.
Only the 2 IDE drives are recognized during boot and in "my
computer" , although the SATA shows up correctly in BIOS as the third
IDE master. The SATA is an OEM WD5000AAKS, so no documentation came
with it. Am I supposed to run a utilty program to get it recognized?
Only other thing I can think of is the drive is DOA, it's cool to the
touch compared to the other 2. I tried all 4 connectors from the
power supply, no change.
Thanks in advance.
