MB temp at 44C is nothing to be alarm (I would assume that you use PC
Probe II to get the temp). The important thing is what your the CPU
temperature - probable much hotter than your MB temp? Don't forget
that the high MB temp is due to the temperature inside your PC case -
so basically it would affect other components such HD, video card,
memory,.... Ideally you try the best to keep temperature inside the
case as cool as possible.
I have the same A8S-X MB with an Athlon 64 X2 3800+, 2 Gb of memory.
The CPU is overclocked to 2.5Ghz core speed (250 Mhz x 10) without
increase in core voltage; standard CPU fan heatsink. At idle, CPU
temperature would be around 30C and MB temperature around 26 C. At
normall PC usage (internet, burn DVD, download, watch Divx video),
the CPU temperature around 34C (MB temp around 29 to 31). At heavy
usage (video encoding + burn DVD + internet, or play FPS game) CPU
temperature would jump up to 47C at most (case temp would be around
36-39). I have one front intake fan + PS exhaust fan + one exhaust
fan top of PS (they all standard 9cm type). BTW, cool & quiet is OFF
so CPU at max frequency at all time.
In your situation, I would say that 44 C MB temperature is
unacceptable - you probably have some problem with the PC case
cooling. Steps that you can do to help keeping your PC cool without
cost you alot is:
1) Add more fan if possible.
2) Make sure inside of your PC is tidy - tie up all those loose cable
(PS wires, HD/DVD drive cables). Tuck uneccesary loose cables away
into unused drive bay. Give as much open space within the case as
possible to ensure unrestricted air flow.
3) Blow out dust from inside the PC, CPU heat sink/fan.
4) If your CPU is running too hot, maybe it is time to change new
thermal paste (if haven't done so more than a year of usage).
Cheer.
