I upgraded a computer (that worked perfectly) from
w2k to XP pro. Now I can't get the audio to work.
I just tested the speakers and it has nothing to do with
them.
I get a message that HDA Audio bus driver is required
and not found.
I but in the chip drivers and downloaded the audio drivers.
What the heck happened to this HDA audio bus driver
and where is it???
thanks!!!!!!!!!!!
How many audio devices do you have plugged into that computer ?
If more than one, perhaps you disabled the other ones in
Device Manager, when you were running Win2K.
Look around Device Manager, or get a copy of Everest, and
see if you can figure out where the extra audio device is
coming from.
(Everest download - last free version. Lavalys.com if you
want to buy the latest commercial version of the software.)

I know your P4PE-BP motherboard has an AGP slot, so the following will
not apply. The latest, DX10 video cards, now have an audio
channel on the video card. The audio travels over the HDMI
connector, for home theater usage. Some people discover
this audio device and cannot figure out where it is coming
from. Installing the audio driver from the video card CD,
will fix that one, if it needs to be fixed.
