Re: P5K Premium Power problem ACPI2 /Hard Drive spindown?

UPDATE:

KB938979 was the culprit, apparently htis update for vista which is suppose to enhance drive performance actaully impedes it in certain cases.

Unisnatalling it seems to have worked.

Do i still need acpi 2.0 ?

Follow-up

I mean by spin down, windows stays on but there'll be a freeze in video movie playback or in accessing disk manager.

I just want to rulke out MB failure.

Again, no problem with a prev MB and 7 drives, just this drive..Do i need to tweak my cpu, what can i do to prevent HD spin down?

I'm using ACPI 2 but there is still hard drive spin down. will upgrading to bios 0204 from 0102 help.

Are there any other tweaks i can use with my q6600?

Yes, it comes back to life, but I'm never sure which drive or drives actually spin down. So i can rule out a defective MB?
I have the bios that came with this board, whjat step should I take, enable acpi 2.0 first?

Does the entire system power back up? If so I'm seeing the same
problem on a P5W DH running freebsd with bios rev 2206 (to support the
Q6600 G0 stepping) and I have acpi2 enabled. Didn't have the problem
with bios rev 2004 and a Core2 e6600 (b2 stepping) though.
