Re: How do you install mobo drivers?

I have a Asus P5N-E SLi nForce 650 Motherboard and I noticed that there were new drivers for it namely the nForce 15.08 ones. So I downloaded them and installed them but after I rebooted I noticed that the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon was in the sys tray. When I clicked on it a box appeared asking if I wanted to remove my hard drive which obviously I don't. What did I do wrong? I cancelled the box but the remove hardware icon remained in the sys tray. I ended up using System Restore to get things back to normal but I would like to know how to install these drivers properly so I can keep my PC up to date.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers.

Your HD is SATA. SATA drives are hot swappable. They're SUPPOSED to show up in the list of hardware when you click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the Tray. This is nothing new. If they don't appear there with your older nForce drivers, THAT would be the mystery that needs explaining. I've never had any nForce drivers over the last two years that did not include the SATA HDs on the list of removable hardware.

Some BIOS versions include an option to run your SATA ports "as IDE." Mine does not, but I wonder if checking that option in BIOS might make the SATA drives not appear on that list. Check your BIOS and let us know if this possibility could be relevant.
