See page 27 and page 56 of this manual. The Asus DVI-ADD card is shown,
as well as some additional BIOS settings not present in your manual.
It is true, that both motherboards use the 865G chipset, but without
the necessary BIOS features, how can it work to display the BIOS level
screens ? If you cannot view the BIOS screens while using the DVI
interface, the solution would be useless.

I would buy an AGP video card and get proper video support. There are
still nice AGP cards available.
