Although you can send a remote assistance invitation by E-Mail, it usually works better for me (I use Remote Assistance a LOT, and it is a truly WONDERFUL tool) if both parties have Messenger accounts and you initiate it via Messenger instead of Via E-Mail.

That might be the only thing I've ever tried on a PC that was
truly trivial - once it dawned on me that I had to open the
"RcBuddy.MsRcIncident" attachment on the email the host PC sent
me.
*Seems* to get around all the
DSN/FIOS/PrivateAddress/PublicAddress stuff.
Only downside I can see is that, unlike RealVNC, it requires
interaction from the user - but the flip side of that is that the
user feels better about their privacy.
Thanks for pointing out the obvious ..... that nobody else came
up with across two NGs.
