Well, I cleaned & reapplied a smaller amount of Arctic Silver 5, but
Asus Probe 2 (and MBM5) report the CPU is 75 C (and the BIOS claims
it's 35-37, the same as the MB temperature).
Is it possible there's something wrong with the BIOS (which is the
latest version) and simultaneously AP2 and MBM5 are both missing an
adjustment factor for the CPU temperature?

Asus PC Probe 2 reports the CPU temperature is a hot 75 C.
MBM5 reports the CPU temperature is a hot 75 C.
The CPU is a 3.06 P4. Despite the high CPU temperature reported by
Asus Probe and MBM5, the PC seems to run fine. The PC case has 3
120mm fans plus a 200mm fan at the top, and a Zalman CNPS7000B HSF
(spinning at normal speed). There's no cards in use, just the
motherboard. So it seems plausible that the CPU temperature should be
very low, though not exactly the same as the motherboard.
If the Asus Probe and MBM5 are correct, I may have applied too much
Arctic Silver 5.
I'd like to believe the BIOS-reported temperature should be correct
and the AP and MBM just need to have an -40 adjustment factored in,
but it looks wrong.
