Hi! I've been reading all this interesting stuff about the 2205 bios
version of the P5W DH Asus mobo, and I have to tell you this will
maybe help me with the issue I'm going through. Hope you can help me.

I recently got Windows vista ultimate. Before I install it, I thought
it would be best to have the most recent bios version of my mobo
installed, so I won't have any compatibility issues with Vista. I
think I was wrong, for now I am unable to install vista, when I run
the installation program (directly from the DVD) the installation
fails, a vista wallpaper appears and it stays there and the system
stop responding. The weird thing is that 4 months ago I installed, in
the exactly same machine the Vista Beta version and I didn´t have any
kind of problems. The only thing I've changed since then, is my
graphic card (I had a X1950 XTX card and I recently got a 8800 GTX
card) and the bios version of my mobo.

Do you think the bios version has anything to do with my Vista
installation issues?

Thanks!

have you tried flahing back to 2004 or 2103? Are you even able to?

Ron

On my P4W you can not update over the 2205 to a previous BIOS. Error says
BIOS too old or it is for the wrong MB. BUT I was able to flash over it
with the 2206. Can't even go back to original BIOS on the install CD.
Whatever code they put in 2205, prevents update to ANY earlier version. I
tried several all with the same error/results. My advice would be if you
have not installed it, don't. Asus people must be sniffing too much of
something to release something like this.

If you read this whole thread, you'll see how I managed to flash back to
2004 from 2205.

Ron
