If you try Asus Update through Windows and go to the settings section

I have a P5WDH Deluxe and recently flashed to the 2205 BIOS. After
experiencing a good amount of crashes I found a website that lists
all the current and previous versions of ASUS mobo BIOS'. However,
they removed the 2205 "due to instability". I wish I would have
seen this before I flashed. So now I want to downgrade back to 2004
but no method of flashing will allow this. I tried EZ Flash through
the BIOS, but after it reads the BIOS, it reports that it is older
than current and will not allow the flash. I tried Alt-F2, but
after it found the BIOS on the floppy and read it (said
"Completed"), it just hanged. I tried ASUS update (the latest), but
it gave me a message that the eeprom was somehow incompatible with
ANY of the prior BIOS I tried. Then I tried an older version of
Update but after removing the current Update app, I couldn't even
install an older version. I got some sort of BIOSINFO error
message. So after doing some research, I found that some recommend
clearing the CMOS, which I did, but again same error messages. And
yes, in ASUS update I had the downgrade option ticked. I can't even
go back to the original BIOS that came WITH the motherboard. I have
XP Pro SP2, E6600, 2GB DDR2, Radeon X1900XTX, 4 WD Caviars in 2X2
SATA II RAID 0, and a single WD in JMicron AHCI IDE mode. What in
the hell is going on here? TIA,

For what it is worth, the 2004 BIOS loads without a problem, into the
AMI
MMTool program. But the 2205 BIOS causes MMTool to crash with an
exception.
That means they could be using a new version of BIOS tools to make
new
BIOS files. Or it could mean, someone screwed up.
One option is to plead with Asus Tech Support. Maybe they will agree
to
send you a BIOS chip, after hearing the details of your story. Maybe
they
won't. Since in some countries, the Asus staff have the ability to
provide
BIOS chips, you may get lucky.
Alternately, if you are in a rush to resolve the issue, and have a
stable
motherboard again, you can go to an outfit like badflash.com and get
a
new BIOS chip with 2004 burned into it. About $25 or so. And chalk it
up to experience.
There are other options, but they hardly ever work out. For example,
I doubt
I could find a blank BIOS chip for sale if I looked. Mouser used to
have
quite an extensive collection of odds and ends, but the last time I
looked,
they seemed to be gone.

Thanks Paul. Yeah, I used to have (still do) the ASUS P2B and used
BIOS Savior on that board which had a 4MB PLCC Winbond chip. Never
once did I have to use it. Now... well, it figures that once I need
it, there's no 8MB version of the BIOS Savior for this board. I just
hope that when this 2205 gets out of beta, I'll be able to upgrade to
the newest BIOS and hopefully that'll be more stable. I wish there
was a way to "force" AFUDOS to flash to ANY BIOS regardless of the
date.
Ron
there is a box you can check to "Bio Downgradeable" and it will allow
you to flash to an older bios.
