What happens when the "6-in-1" card reader is disconnected ?

This is the strangest thing. When I plug the keyboard into one of the
two ports on the card reader, that's when I get the error on soft
reboot. Again, though, a hard power down and restart is fine. However,
if I have the keyboard plugged into one of the ports on the back, it
starts up fine every time, but doesn't recognize the keyboard (I get a
no keyboard found error) until after the boot sequence is completed. I
guess it's not much of a problem, it'll just be a little bit of a
hassle when I want to adjust BIOS settings and I either have to the
use a PS2 keyboard or plug the keyboard into the card reader port and
do a hard reset.
