P5N-E SLI Southbridge heatsink?

Has anyone found it helpful to install a chipset cooler on the
Southbridge chip? Obviously, ASUS does not think it is necessary
except they provide holes on the mainboard to mount a heatsink. Is
this only for overclocking? Will a passive Northbridge aluminum
chipset cooler work in this application?
.
